One Simple Habit for a Long, Healthy Life

We all know we should see the dentist twice a year, but did you know there are other health professionals you should also visit on a regular basis?  Read on for a complete list of annual appointments to keep!

  1. Visit the dentist

This one is pretty well-known, but it’s always worth repeating. You should see the dentist at least every six months for a cleaning and check-up. While you’re there, make sure to ask about things like flossing and brushing technique, as well as get any cavities filled.

  1. See the optometrist

Your eyesight is precious, so don’t avoid getting your eyes checked by a qualified optometrist once a year – the optometrist will not only check your vision, but also look for any signs of underlying health conditions.

  1. Get a physical exam

A physical exam is important for people of all ages. Your doctor will take your blood pressure, take blood and urine samples, listen to your heart and lungs, and check your weight and height. This is also a good time to ask any questions you have about your health or to voice any concerns you may have been having.

  1. Check in with a mental health professional

Mental health is just as important as physical health, so don’t forget to schedule an appointment with a therapist or counsellor at least once a year. This is a great opportunity to talk about anything that may be bothering you and get some professional help and perspective.

Stay healthy!

By making just a few annual appointments with different specialists, you can do wonders for your long-term health. So put aside some time in the next few weeks to schedule visits with the dentist, optometrist, doctor, and mental health professional of your choice – your future self will thank you!
